Toasted Coconut and Toffee Coffee | Bi-Rite Creamery | San Francisco, California
Bi-Rite opened in late 2006 and changed the ice cream scene in San Francisco in a heart beat. This joint’s proximity to Dolores Park helped it become a sunny day in the park tradition and its no surprise to find the line wrapped around the corner on sporadic hot summer nights and cold windy winter nights alike. While Vinh doesn’t think its anything special (“Why pay $4 for something that tastes just as good Thirfty’s Ice Cream?”), I disagree. I think there are hella over rated ice cream/dessert places in the Bay Area and Bi-Rite is not one of ‘em. Sure the flavors aren’t super creative (as say Humphry’s), but this freshly churned ice cream is creamy, silky and absolute quality.
